The Conference held on 16 November 2019 at the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin was entitled: “Tumours – scientifically confirmed therapy supporting prevention and nutrition”. At the meeting, Dr Artur Śliwiński conducted a presentation entitled “What a plastic surgeon can offer to an oncology patient”.

We must remember that patients who have experienced tumours have a physical and mental burden. The treatment produces a fear of relapse, but there is more. The patient must sometimes deal with the physical defects produced by the disease: surgical scars, skin conditions, missing breasts after a mastectomy. Women are particularly susceptible to trauma resulting from deteriorated appearance and want to once again feel like women, regain their sense of beauty and sexuality. And the mental conditions affects the healing process. This is where plastic surgery comes in...
